the headlights dont look like there designed for HID's they look like a standard projector which are about as good as HID's in a standard halogen headlight. being in SA these guys can hook you up with a better headlight that would suit a HID bulb a bit better http://www.superauto.net.au HID's are very much illegal in aus & that kit particular being 6000k will be even more noticeable as its very blue tinge light if your going HID's id stick between 4300k & 5000k just so its not as blue, 5000k is about the same as the brightest blue tinge halogens you can buy. another alternative is LED headlights, CREE make 1's suitable for headlights as thats what alot of Euro's are coming out with even the 2014 BMW mini has a led headlight option, they will out live HID's and Halogens combined, & run a lot cooler, but like HID's aftermarket install's are not ADR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cLw1z-p8bA |

HID's have to be self levelling and self cleaning here in Vic, so unless the car comes with them, dont even think about it, total waste of money and time, believe it or not, :-[ |

HID are legal IF you fit the self adjusting and cleaning bits as well For example Suzuki Swift Sport 05 to 2010 in Japan had HID as an option so factory made kit with all the bits necessary are available to fit HID to a Aussie Swift Sport 05 to 2010 provide you fit all the bits for self levelling and cleaning for most that would go into the too hard basket and just changing headlights alone would be illegal |

Just get the Halogen conversion kit from any of the mini shops that stock it. I seem to recall that mine cost around $90 from Pommie-land a few years ago. Money well spent, & legal if you get the lights with the correct diffusers on the front of the lens that keep light away from the RHS of the road. Bolts straight in with no mods, apart from having to wire up the plug with three wires at the back of the headlight. I hate illegal HID conversions. If a car is coming towards me with very bright lights that are blinding me, I give them a short blast with high beam. No response = High beam. Illegal HIDs have almost no difference between high beam or low, so if they "leave them on high beam", then so do I. (Assuming no other traffic in the area of course) |
