Post subject:  Help... who are Mini specialists in Seaford/Frankston area?
Hi guys, I'm VERY interested in a mini that is for sale in Seaford... I need someone who knows the ins and outs of minis to check everything out for me... I basically want a pre-purchase inspection but I would like it done by someone that people trust and someone that knows what to look for on a mini.

The seller has agreed to take the car to a workshop for the inspection so long as it is relatively local for him.

I need to get it done before Tuesday if possible as I'm a bit pushed for time... WHO SHOULD I SPEAK TO?

Try Tovon They are in Seaford. Toby Tyler is the owner. Other than that not sure who else is down that way.

This Tovon place... are they experienced with minis? Obviously they would be trustworthy if you suggested them but do they know their stuff?

Anyone else know people down that way?

I've been down to the Tovan Auto place a couple of times.
They aren't too bad, if you're after something rare it's cost you big though.
There's always a couple of minis in there getting fiddled with, and there's a lot of old
wrecked cars out the front, don't know why they are there though.

If you could do that I would be very appreciative... When would you be available?

I spoke to Tovan Auto, the guy I spoke to (Toby) knew the car and said that in his opinion it is a good example.

Some worrying things he said was that it has an import engine that had the fan put on backwards and thus got cooked. Tovan Auto were the ones to recondition the radiator and and fix the fan and some other issues. I asked how much it would cost to get them to properly check the car out and it was about a hundred bucks.

I deal with toby a bit,
He is reasonably priced, as far as small parts go, Like a single contessa $30, gaskets etc are all standard priceing, He is very good at tuning an SU, i actually just booked my sprite in there, to get the timing done for next tuesday. Toby is a perfectionist, You may pay for it, but the quality of work is A1

Well, the earliest that he can look at the car is Friday... this particular car will be advertised in the Trading Post on Wednesday so I was wanting to make a decision on whether or not to buy it before then.

Would you be able to help me out by taking a squiz before then? If you are too busy or simply can't be bothered just say no, but i would be grateful if you could.

Thankyou for that... I will contact Toby again... he is the one that generally services this particular car anyway... he should be able to tell me all about it.

I've since spoken to the previous owner who I have found out is an old friend of a mate of mine. My mate has actually driven this particular car a few times. I also found out that this mini is the one that features in the RACV ads with Andrew Gaze. It's famous! :shock:

I have pretty much sealed the deal with this car... I am now waiting for it to get the RWC done. :D
