As per title really!

Is it at all possible to get hold of Hydro bags that are new old stock? or if not, the best place to get good nic ones.

Were there many different variations of the Hydro bags? i.e. did a cooper S have different bags to other models?

Thanks - Milly

NOS would be very very rare.

Decent ones are out there and come up on eBay etc from time to time. They usually fail where the hose joins the bag. It's worth getting them pressure tested to be sure they are OK.

The hose can be repaired/replaced (although keeping the original hose is difficult but not impossible)

Cooper S bags were different in that they were slightly "stiffer" (more damping). Again you would need to be very lucky to find original S bags.

There were various types but the most common you will find today would be the type fitted to the Mini Deluxe as there were so many of this model built here in Australia.

some very good discussion and info here...

I know one particular store that sells them for $165 each. They are not worth anywhere near that. I would keep an eye on ebay as they do come up occasionally.

I also know the store your talking about  ..bought one, was expecting better to be honest, painting them black including the rubber doesn't look very profess! Would just prefer them to have been delivered in original condition then clean them up myself.

Thanks!

I'm actually from Newcastle, England. I Work in Karratha here in WA. I have bought a 1970 Morris mini K planning on taking it home eventually. just trying to keep ontop of things while I'm here and get some enjoyment out of it too!

Looking forward to learning more about the Aussie mini's they are pretty cool with some quirky and unique features that the UK minis never had

I'm sure you'll be fine. They are very durable but if a car has been neglected and out in the weather a lot over its life then dirt and water collect into the top of the front displacers. The ones from the rear of cars are usually much better as they lie at an angle.

There is a member in the us on here restoring a car and he found a NOS set. If I didn't see it with my own eyes wouldn't have believed it. Who knows, one day someone will have them remanufactured.

I agree.
in the UK it is extremely difficult to get the units, with the weather being worse and the roads getting salted during the winters the units don't stand up very well to years of rain, snow salt etc...

Hopefully someday someone can re manufacture them like you said, its a shame when you see cooper S cars back in England being convered to dry suspension. Kinda looses a piece of its history i feel sometimes.

Milly
