Post subject: | 1275LS engine Prefix? |
Hi there I have been doing a little research about the engine in my 66 Deluxe. (It is a 1275 and I have fitted an SC12 blower). I purchased the block which was listed as a 1100S engine off ebay (in 2005). The engine number is 12H902UH which would possibly suggest a 1275LS and not an 1100S as listed. Does anyone more knowledgable know what it is from?? Cheers Rick P.S - Incidently, my 2nd car was a 1275LS HI Ho in 1995 and was awsome (Before it ended up on it's lid!) (First car was a 1961 Morris 850 powerhouse) |

I believe the 1275 LS blocks had pushrod covers at the back of the block, 1100s are solid. |

Nope it's the GTs that had covers on the back (Cooper S block). 1275LS block is solid, looks like an 1100S one, but different engine prefix. 1100S (most) is 12YD/Ta/H prefix, I'm not 100% sure of the 127LS one. But 12H/902/U/H rings a bell. Mini King book agrees. |

Sweet. Worth more than 1100s engine I would imagine. Yes, the block is solid (no pushrod covers). Good to know as I would like to restore a 1275LS at some stage. Might be able to pickup a body less engine some day. (I know, he's dreaming) |

12H902 is a 1275LS prefix. Mine is 12H897UH whcih doesn't match any codes I have found. Both of the mechanics I have spoken to about it say it is correct and someone has mis-stamped it. As it is an early 1275LS (July) it may be the prototype ![]() |

OK - Thanks everyone. Good to know. It is a strong engine and 40thou over bore. Has had 9psi of non intercooled boost thrown into it for a few years now with no dramas. |
