Nulon longlife ethylene glycol concentrate 50% + deionised water 50%.

Or you can buy the Karcraft hydro fluid in a 4L tin.

How much do you need to go from empty ?

Each side would probably take 1L or a bit more.
I don't have a vac pump, so I just pump it a bit high then blow it down fast, and pump up again.
Same as BMC service often did. Most only used the vac feature if they had hydro bags replaced with new.

Hi Slacko, you can also get it from Mini Kingdom Online in 1 litre or four litre cans supplied by the original manufactures in Australia, using the same formula that they used for Leyland Australia
Give me a call if you like

Hi all,
A cheap Hydro Pump can be made from a good quality grease gun with suitable connections and line of about 1 metre in length. One word of caution is to empty the gun after use as the seals get damaged reacting to the fluid and leak next time you go to use it. We have used the same mix as drmini suggested but substituted the water with metho 50%. We have used this in rally minis for over 40 years and road cars of recent times without any problems.
Jim.

I can remember 'mixing' up our brew at the workshop I was at, is was a bottle of SQ36 and 5? Liters of water. Can you still buy SQ36?

Fifty/fifty glycol and plain water over here. It's just water and rust/freeze and biological inhibitor I am interested in. The alcohol of the original blends prevents freezing.

I made a hydro pump a few years ago from a grease pump. The grease guns work really well, but are tricky to keep in fluid, and usually messy. The grease pumps were very cheap only a few years ago and plentiful at about 70 bucks. The pump is still excellent after 5 years, and the pumping for inflation and deflation is really easy. Problem is I haven't seen them for a reasonable price.
