Hi everyone,

I replaced my rubber joints, for the nylon uni joints, and have found that the nylon joints have a clicking/popping sound and knocking can be heard and felt through the fire wall, under my feet. I am wondering if anyone has had any similar issues with these joints? It only occurs as the car heads uphill on a bumpy surface (ie my uphill gravel driveway) I've heard these driveshaft mechanisms can be "harsher" but surely a clicking and sensation through the firewall indicates something wrong? It's like they like to "knock" as the suspension moves through its travel, or as the driveshaft changes its angle. I have found that some of cups have a "distance" from the inner metal, and the stopper on the nylon cup, I hope you can see that in the picture.

Edit: yes my exhaust pipe has copped a hammering, but that's not my noise, I had a mate push my car up and down, where it made the clicking noise, and I felt the knock in the driveshaft.

Sometimes the flanges can get bent when a rubber one let's go, this may have happened in a previous life. The bent flange causes looseness in joint.

Thanks for that, i forgot to mention I switched the complete coupling joints (the metal parts: diff and driveshaft sides) for good ones (both sides) and it still did it. I compared the couplings as they came out, and there was no difference.

Make sure the outer yoke is not fouling on the castellated nut split pin when rotating.
