I have just noticed that my 1275 LS, eng nbr12H902UH...doos not have the plastic tube for the dipstick.
The dipstick goes straight into the block.

Is this normal for this engine (there is no oil spurting up with engine running)

If it should have one does anyone know the part number.

Thanks

Plastic dipstick tube is 12G107.
Around $12 to buy here.

[edit] only the A+ motors (hardly any sold here) had no dipstick tube.

Thanks Kevin,

It just looked like it never had a tube fitted.

I will go and buy one before I get the car registered.

Thanks Felix

I went to buy the dipstick tube yesterday and the guy said some 1275 engines do not have them fitted so I did not get it.

Looked at my dipstick again and noticed it has a chamfered rubber seal that sits in the chamfer in the block,so he might be right.

Can someone who has a 1275 LS with a 12H902UH engine advise if they have the tube fitted.

Thanks

I just went and pulled the cover up on my original 1275LS engine and the dipstick tube was sitting next to it. But it's a metal one.

Also here's the engine number.
It's the same as yours.

So I'm guessing your should probably have a metal tube aswell??

Cheers, Rhys.

Hi Rhys,

Thanks for the photos.
It seems that someone has removed the steel tube from mine
and that's why the stick is loose. Also that means that there is not enough oil in the engine due tube missing.
I see minisport sell the steel tube but no price.

Regards Felix

I got a steel tube off John Smidt today, thanks John.

There is no way this tube is going to fit as it is slightly larger than the hole.

I am satisfied now that this engine never had a tube fitted.

If it didn't have a tube then you have a UK block and need the appropriate dipstick....

Cheers, Ian

Hi Ian,

I think your right.I do remember the previous owner saying that this engine was imported from the UK.
The oil stick I have fitted is P/N 12A1263 according to minimania site and they state it's for a 1275 and an A plus engine.

So I must have the correct stick.
