Has anyone in the past been asked by the blue slip man to get brake modifications certified. I am happy to do it and think it is a very good idea, what are the forms and fees associated, does anyone know? apart from the usual blue slip cost, yada yada yada.

I have the Brake assessment manual printed out and will have a read through, has anyone been through this before?

The RMS VSI06 on page 8 and 9 details the modifications that can be done with and without certification. As far as I can tell, as long as the parts used are in the same configuration as an equivalent model (eg. Cooper S discs on an 850) it should be OK without certification.

I did read that, but seeing as I am on vented 8.4's from mini sport uk, a 78 Leland s would work with with that extract seeing as the 1275 GT's came with 8.4's. But does the disks being vented throw a spanner in the works? I will be talking to the Eng later today to go through a few things, I will make sure to keep all the documentation for those wishing to do it in the future.

yes, according to the above, they were never factory fitment in that configuration.

But they're also aftermarket alloy calipers with a different type of drive flange aren't they?

Or they might be from a Metro, which should be easier, but still needs checking according to the example above

Engineer approved, picked up a weighbridge cert yesterday. blue slip next step, Should be able to help out if anyone needs a "similar car" certification in future.
