Somebody should post up some good busted roller rocker pics.
I've seen quite a few, both cheapo ones, and expensive.
I'm sure many punters get captivated by their Bling! factor, yet you can't see them once installed, haha.

Are you suggesting there's an opportunity there for someone to make a transparent rocker cover?

Making it clear is easy the hard part is keeping it clean so you can see them :?

For those that can remember it's a bit like Ted Bullpit polishing the dipstick in the Kingswood on the old tele show Kingswood Country

What sort of hp gain could be expected going from stock to the 1.4's?

Its like going up a cam size. It exaggerates a cam lobe to give it a little more lift. The gains would be mild if that's what you are after, short of guessing a couple of HP for the right engine....

What engine? Will vary greatly without knowing your engine specs.

Hi gtogreen,

My engine specs are at the bottom of my post. Its a big valve head with extensive porting/ polishing etc. Camshaft specs unknown but it was made by a well known engine builder who described it as "a nice road cam but good for weekend work if you want". Its definitely not a 649 which I've had, but it has good low down torque, comes on at 2500ish rpm and happily revs to 7000 which is why I descibe it as a "731 type cam". If the 1.4 rocker setup only has a few hp gain I dont see the return on investment for the price.

cheers

Mikal

Probably only a few hp. If you are currently running forged Cooper S rockers you will see the biggest gain because they are only about 1.2 to 1 ratio. Find out what you have first. Doc has done a bit of research in the rocker department. He may be able to help you more.

Standard factory rockers are low on valve lift, I measured ratios of only 1.16:1 (Cooper S) to 1.21:1 (sintered) with an RE13 cam and a 1275 head.
Hi lift 1.5 rockers give more top end, but this can be at the expense of bottom end torque.

I have 1.5s in my 1360, on the chassis dyno with an RE282 sprint cam, it gave peak power at 7000-7200. There is a noticeable power surge from a bit under 5000 rpm, and then it hauls ass to 8000 if I let it.

1.4:1 rockers are a good ratio. I have modded and fitted K3 Corolla ones for a few people, these were around 1.42- 1.44:1.
