Does anyone have pictures of the upper and lower dash panels that haven't been butchered? I am almost up to repairing mine and I am looking for a reference to go by to work out which holes should be there and which ones I need to fill back in. Over the years it looks as though several backyard engineers have had at it with either an axe or small amounts of explosives based on what would loosely be called holes through the lower dash. As for the upper dash a previous owner must have had something against airvents as they have been savaged pretty well......

So if you have some pictures of when yours was stripped down or that show what the panels should look that you could share it would be much appreciated.

cheers,

CJ

To give you an idea of what I am working with this is what I have on the lower dash panel

Drivers side

Center

Passengers side

Now I am pretty sure the huge hole on the drivers side isn't factory, I am hoping the two in the center aren't (I have seen smoother edges left by a shotgun  ) I would have thought the smaller hole in the center and the one on the far left passenger side were more like what I could expect, but I am hoping to put it back to close to original if I can work out what is meant to be there and what isn't.

They have done a good job on the dash. Why?
The 2 round holes you identified look original. Plus 2 more for the demister.
Plenty of photos in the build threads if you have a spare week or two. Third picture down in this thread shows a few holes. viewtopic.php?t=86837

Your guess is as good as mine  I have no idea what the previous owners were thinking, whatever it was it certainly was about being precise

That thread shows what I kind of expected, a dash that looks nothing like mine..................

Definitely not going to be able to get my vents to look as good as original again without a lot of work though so I am pretty certain I will have to resort to the covers. Guess he took to it with a hacksaw or a cold chisel?

I have a club man van shell that I've just wrecked out, you can cut the dash out of it if you need to, located in Adelaide.

Likewise, I have the reminants of a round nose van with a dash in it.

Thanks guys that is food for thought but I have no idea how to get the panel out without destroying it? Anyone removed a lower dash?
