I'm thinking of slowly swapping from points to electronic some of my cars still run a generator and staying that way will the conversion be successful

If you change the car to negative earth, definitely.
If you leave it positive earth, it depends.. I know some Pertronix Ignitors are made for positive earth.
I'm not sure about the common cheap UK ones like Powerspark- as they have both a red and black wire, maybe they work for both?

Convertible Mini would know for sure.

I'm running a generator with an Accuspark module and a Stealth programmable Black Box advance controller.
Just flash the field terminal on the generator to convert it to negative earth.

Also, flash the generator if it has been sitting on the bench for a while, they can change polarity when unused for a while.

I had a generator with a 123, running negative earth. Worked fine. And I love not having points.

I have a -earth round nose with a generator, I previously had a minisport electronic dizzy then went to 123, they both worked fine. I think the electronic dizzy is a great mod as the car is easier to start, runs better and needs less maintenance.
