You won't find the handle or lock new here, they were Australian specific parts.
Handle is different to 850 or UK Mk1 cars.
Lock is similar, a UK one could work [maybe], but I've never done it. Mine was worn so I found a good S/H one, washed it out then filled it with powdered graphite.

If you have a copy of the Scientific Publications/Gregory #64 manual the Oz doors are properly detailed in there.
Basically there is a circlip on the inner end of the outside handle which must be removed, a single screw behind the chromed cover, then there are 2x more screws that hold the outer handle's escutcheon in place. Don't drop the 2 screws or the snail spring into the door...!
The door lock can then be pushed into the door and removed after its mounting screws are taken out. This can be done with the window and winder mechanism still in, contrary to what the book says.

[edit] When refitting, I found that the %$#^@ circlip can be dispensed with, IF the C shaped lever is bent open a bit.

Thanks drmini. That worked fine. Now I will need to find a door handle as mine has so much play in it it is almost beyond use. What Aussie minis had the same door handle or can the existing handle be rebuilt?
Cheers.

If there is a lot of play up/down when opening, it is generally a worn lock, not the handle.
If the handle is loose sideways, add more nylon shims off another handle.

If the problem is the lock barrel, a boot lock barrel assembly can be modified to fit. The barrel in these Oz handles is NLA, and is NOT the same as a UK door barrel.

Had a look in the Mini parts books and couldn't find anything with that part number.

Perhaps it was a substitute number developed in the workshop by those who worked on Mini doors?

If it is as Doc said, although the lock mech's are NLA direct off the shelf, you CAN buy a modificed 850/UK door lock that will fit

http://minisport.com.au/mini-right-hand ... up-to-1970

If you don't want to shell out that kind of money. I have it on good word that you can purchase a standard 850 door lock and modify it yourself with helicoils in the threads. (the std 850 lock is ALOT cheaper). If you don't want to do that, just pay for the the already modded one :D
