Hi guys

As some of you are aware my head gasket blew out something terrible. What is THE BEST head gasket for a 1275 bored 40thou to 1310, A+ Metro Turbo engine?

Many thanks
James

I've had no problems with Payen BK450 gaskets lately.
Retighten when hot, check again after 1000 miles.

Once you go black, you won't go back. The BK450 is pretty good too.

Cheers guys,

Do I need the one with the 'O ring rocker feed sealing ring', or the one without?

Won't harm! Same Price it seems.

Probably a good idea to have the O-ring, I have had 1 BK450 gasket in the last 15 years that leaked there. Probably had a dud copper ring.

I have been running BK450's on my turbo motor for many many years without an issue, holds up to 20psi and good ignition advance and no issues at all.

As the Doc said re-torque it, I check mine every now and then just for the hell of it anyway.

Thought I'd add this.

This is the old head gasket. Looking pretty sad and sorry. There's big rough marks next to nearly all 4 cylinder holes. Anyone know what type this is? Looks average

That is a cheapo one.
We used to use them years ago, they are average at best.

IMO the BK450 black composition gasket is better than the current crop of copper gaskets. Those have been a problem since asbestos filler was replaced with the current rubbish filler.

Yeah thanks guys - the BK450 is definitely what I will be going with. Thought I'd share the old gasket and was a little suspicious it was a cheap one.

Sucks when you pay someone good money to build you an engine and they cheap out on important stuff.
