Question are a 25D and 45D dizzy interchangable?

Physically they are. The advance curve however may be very different.

25D had a symmetrical cam, it was prone to `points bounce' over 6500 rpm. Except for the Cooper S which got 32oz points.
A 45D's cam is assymetric, so doesn't have this problem.

These days in the 21st century I'd fling the points & condenser from either, and fit an electronic module instead.
eg Powerspark, or Pertronix.

as for the advance curve, lock the dizzy's advance and add an Acuspark stealth module, and you can then programme whatever curve you need. Works for me.... 8)

I sell both these Distributors 25D4 and 45D4 brand new and they are Electronic. You even get a choice of side entry or top entry caps with both types. Price is $150.00 post free. Buy Local and support local businesses who try and keep Mini parts available at a reasonable cost.

Thanks for the feedback, I plan on going electronic, if I was to go new dizzy would I be better to fit a 45D or going electronic it doesn't really matter?
I just saw the 45D is the for sale section of the forum and thought it's an upgrade I plan on doing.
And Convertible mini, I agree I try to buy local where possible, it might cost a couple of extra dollars, but it always seems to be less hassle from my experience.

A new 45D with electronic module will work the same as an old 45D with electronic module.
But the advance mechanism of the new one won't be worn.

re the new one for sale by junior, we decided to use his old one instead, because he is also fitting an Accuspark stealth module for programmable advance. The dizzy's centrifugal advance will be locked so won't work anyway.

Ah cool how much of a power gain can you get from using the programmable advance?
Also is there presets available or is it a bit of trail and error?
