Hey guys trying to decide which gbox to build for my deluxe.

Having only ever had 1 remote box 15yrs ago I cant remember what it was like.

I like the idea of the remote change due to the torque tube effect of the housing.

Do rod change gear sets fit in a remote housing?

Cheers in advance

Rodney

Rodchange gearset complete fits in a 4 synchro remote case (22G1128). Except for reverse gear; the fork groove is different.

Remote box is better located than a rodchange, even without adding the rad end steady bar to it.
Rodchange has all the same location problems an 850 did.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I've been meaning to ask for a while.

If you go with a remote shift gbox - if the outputs are hardy spicer - is it possible to convert to a pot joint set up with the remote gbox? If so, is it a big job/many mods?

Cheers
James

Not hard at all- you just need to pull the diff, fit pot joint output shafts to it, and use common Mini (not S) side covers.

Gearboxes in both my Moke and work Mini are remote shift with pot joints.

No problems with oil leaks like I used to get from rod change (plenty of oil leaks everywhere else though )

More reliable than rubber unis or Hardy spicers.

I have had this set-up for nearly 20 years without problems.
