Hi all just wondering if anyone on here is using a wideband AF meter in their mini with a single SU. I have had limited experience with it but it has been quite an insight into the actual tune of my engine. Ive been able to set my idle mixtures to exactly 14.7 to 1. Im just curious how rich is too rich? under hard acceleration it richen up all the way to about 10 - 1. it begins to lean up again as the engine load is lowered. on over run and cruising speeds it may creep up to 16-1. this is not really an issue as the engine is making very little power at this point. I am running a needle that most charts sites etc etc have recommended for my engine with the mods i have done. I think its an aau.. (1 1/2 su) I would be inclined to think the needle should be slightly under fueling as the engine and head have been worked quite a bit. just curious what readings you guys have seen? |

10:1 is way too rich. An SU should run around 13.0 under load. Cruising at light throttle, 15.0 or a bit more is fine. |

can any one tell us if the Minty Lamb needle chart can be used to plot a graph and then have it suggest the appropriate needle? |

Sounds like you need a lighter oil in the dashpot if it is only going that rich on initial acceleration. I've used a wideband with my 1.5 SU and I was aiming for 14.5 idle, 12.5 full load, and about 16 or 17 cruise. I've used Minty Lamb and it works ok, just choose needles that are common more correct (rich or lean), in the areas needed. |

Sorry to hijack. What af would you recomend for a 8v fuel injected twinky? Load is as low as 9:1 and 10:1 light throttle is 10-13.6 idle is unknown at this stage. |

It's been on the car all week and still going strong. cheers. |

The tailpipe sniffer doesn't allow idle readings because of the in-out airflow at idle. That dilutes the exhaust so it reads max lean. If you want to get an accurate idle reading, weld the spare sensor nut onto the bottom of the headers and plug the sensor in there. When you're done with testing, screw an M18x1.5 plug into it. |

The exhaust set up had a bung with no thread (capped with some metal rod) .. It popped off on the m5 and i had to weld a nut onto it about a month ago. I might go to my local exhaust shop and see if they sell the correct size bung. |

I have the same. I put it in a box and made it portable. Sensor supplied is a Bosch. |
