Hey Everyone

Im looking at putting 8.4 discs and 4 pots on the front of the van, this would require running 13 inch rims, what else am I going to have modify to suit the larger rim size, i assume a bit of body work and some sports pack flares, are there any changes to the steering rack, suspension, rear trailing arms etc? ?

No other mods, just need to cut away at the front of the front wheel arch to give clearance when turning.

Not sure about shocks but I have hi-lo's.
I also cut out both front and rear arches when I was building the car which allows me to run the suspension lower.
It was a lot of work to lower the rear arch and not possible without major dismantling of the car.
I would start of by fitting the wheels and then seeing what height I needed to set the suspension at

if you put those steering rack blocks you wont need anything other than flares too match according too minisport website but this dosent account for lowering. ive got 12x5 with the 8.4" brakes and i only get a bit of scrub when im turning into a driveway

ok so with the metro turbo 8.4 and 4 pots you can still run 12's, id much rather this if it works. I thought id read that you had to have 13's...

There is some info here thats not being covered: doesnt matter of you have 12 or 13in wheels as to weather you trim arches or not- it depends on the wheel offset and tyre choice you have and the brakes you run. I have 13x6s on my car with no trimmed guards for example.

Now with metro turbo brakes your front track will be wider so if you run say 12x5 superlights and 165 tyres you could be looking at needing a trim.
12x4.5 rover alloys wont......most 13s would.

Before you jump into 12's research the tyres. These can be a pain to get for 12 inch rims.

thanks guys,

Now that i have a little better idea , Minisport is only 15 mins away so I might drop in and chat with them about rim /tyre packages and options, appreciate the info!

Another couple of quick questions..

regarding the hubs for the metro 4 pots, can i just build a set of FAM2390 from mini spares..
http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search

or

am i going to have to go with something like this..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-front-Sw ... 3f436362d6

my preference is the minispares as I can build them myself and save some $'s but it looks as they have to be modified to bolt up the 4 pot callipers?

Also can i just use these flanges .. http://www.minispares.com/product/Class ... o%20search with standard drive shafts or will i need something like this.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-DRIVE-SH ... 418cc83d54

cheers in advance

Don't stuff around trying to mix and match parts - buy a complete assembled set.
Its easiest and cheapest.

Since you haven't told us exactly what brake calipers and discs you want - suggesting the other parts is flying blind for us.
For example: the two drive flanges you linked above would not suit most 4-pot / vented setups.

I currently have metro 4 pots and 8.4 inch discs as per the previous posts, other than that the Van is drums so need to do a full conversion. I priced it up roughly and reckon i can do it for half to three quarters the cost of buying it of the shelf complete so this is my preference , as well as being able to spread the costs out...( i have access to a full work shop with all the tools/ hoists etc needed ), i just want to make sure I'm buying compatible parts ...

The metro 4-pots came as solid and vented variants. Which have you got?
