Everything? Joking aside, most mini bonnets don't fit well but not quite as bad as your example. Theres not much you can do as if you moved (bend) the locking panel down, the edges would be too low at guard. You could try another bonnet(s) if you could maybe borrow one/some. They do vary depending on where they come from. If you're really wanting to repair yours it would require panel work. I could elaborate if thats your idea. |

I was wondering if there were different shaped bonnets for the later cars with "English" grille and that this is what might have been fitted to this. |

Both the bonnet and the support panel are pushed in. Looks like that car has had a bit of a tap in the front at some stage. If the middle Of Bonnet and support panel are pulled out it will even out the Gap. But will need prepping and painting again. |

Looks like the headlights are a bit pushed in too. Problem with 40 year old cars, you never know their history. Nice photo bucket btw, bit of a beast you're building there. |

Looks like the old girl has hit something reslly hard and been poorly repaired. As said above the headlights grill support panel and bonnet are all out of whack. The headlight could be left but if you want too fix the gap the grill panel and bonnet will need to be pulled forward.. |

Maybe take a few measurements and compare with a straight one. You'll at least know how bad it is. Another thing you could check is the floor, around where sub frame bolts are. If it's been hit hard the sub frame sometimes transmits the force to the floor, pushing it up/back. There's no 'crumple, zones' in a Mini. =0) |

for a budget tidy up... try re-fitting the chrome moustache, with a bit of pushing and pulling I think it would hide a lot of the gap and the chrome will take your eye away from it and they just look better with the moustache. I think the only other fix is to pull the front of the car back out and beat it back into shape. |

Based on this, it must be the bonnet that's out of shape. Does a Rover bonnet have a different bottom edge profile where it meets the grille ? |

that car has definitely had a hit in the nose... Phil 850 wrote: Does a Rover bonnet have a different bottom edge profile where it meets the grille ? no, it's the same, just has a lip for the top part of the grille surround |
