I use a Gunson Eezibleed and for a Mini they recommend bleeding the m/c seperately first. i.e. with the rest of the system disconnected.

I have a bit of plastic tubing jammed into the end off a flexible brake hose that I use. It fits the thread in the top of the master cylinder and lets you direct the fluid into a jar.

Tim

I went through this recently. Bench bleed MC's first before attaching to lines. I then gravity bled the system by cracking open the bleeder furthest away from MC working my way towards them, although I have read people opening them all at once.

I have a brake booster under the right wheel arch which I bled first.

How is your pedal assembly? If I had to do it again, I would clean that up before reassembling the MC's to the firewall...

What is the benefit of bleeding the M/C first?

Ive never done and had no dramas bleeding up a bone dry system.

It was my first attempt to bleed brakes ever and I simply went on what I read and was advised. Perhaps for gravity bleeding, having some fluid in the cylinders first helps things get going.
