| Post subject: | swapping from Hardy Spicer uni joints to pot joints |
Hi all, Due to age and big HP wearing the uni joint yokes out I am looking to swap over to inner pot joints. As I have never had a mini with pot joints can someone advise if the axels are the same length etc? As for diff outputs this is ok as I have a Quaife ATB diff it has the small output shafts and covers to suit and I have been using the quaife output flange to suit hardy spicers. Is it as simple as sliding the pot joint bell onto the diff output and sliding the axel into the inner section of the CV pot joint? is there a circlip top hold the inner onto the axel, I cant remember if the axels have this groove or not.. Also does anyone know the outer diameter of the pot bell with boot to ensure it clears my oversize exhaust (from the turbo) thanks all. Grant |

Grant You will need 2 pot joint drive shafts, both length and splines are different to early ones. Unless the Quaife has pot joint style output shafts with the wire circlip, you will need to sort that too. There is no nut or bolt in the ends of the pot joint outputs, it's just a circlip to keep the pot joints on. Can't help with pot joint diameter, I have none here. |

The Quaife unit is a pot joint unit but with special adaptors to suit the Hardy Spicer joints. It should be as you say, just pull out the flanged adapters and insert pot joints. You can sell the adapters to me! M |

Thanks Kevin, I will see if John can help me out with axels and some new pots. Yes the outputs do have the circlip groove. Sorry guys I will be keeping the flanges etc. I'll put a post asking for axels here also... Thanks guys Grant |
