Just wondering if people in the know could help me ID the two mokes I have just bought. I know they are 77 and 78 models from the vin, one has proper ute trayback and canopy, other has californian accessories on it (dont think its californian though:

Trayback number: 018S0B1M09/ 19407 (99h motor)
Other moke : AKFPB18Y/101407 (99h motor aswell)

Cheers,
Steve

I have never seen a 018SOB, they are usually 018FOB.
I wonder if that is the trayback code?

AKFPB18Y is a 998 Californian
AK = Moke
F = High line = Californian (P = low line = normal Moke)
P = Buckboard = Moke
B = 998
1 = 4 speed manual trans/RHD
8 = Model commenced 1978 (code changed in 78 so all existing models started again with an 8!)
Y = Australian assembly

Apparently a special build for a mine, were they also given specific numbers?

Looks to be genuine tray back, has standard wheels, straight bar front bumper, mini canopy

Following page is from the Moke parts microfiche PUB 27/1 dated June 1984. I understand from some Moke experts that it's not 100% correct but thought it may be of use.

I get them transported to my door in two weeks, will take closer look at Id then. Any other tray back telltales I should look for?
