Everything was working fine till I wired up a tempory tacho, now it just won't kick over. Un wired the tacho and still nothing. Could the coil be damaged from this. It was working fine when holding the wires for the tacho in place. ![]() |

Does it turn over but not fire? There's a big difference between this and what the subject line infers. I would first unhook the tacho and then put the wires back to original. Then start from there once it is running again. What kind of Tacho is it? The Smiths type (induction loop) or an aftermarket type with only one wire running to it(apart from a 12 volt supply)? |

Sorry, yes it turns over but doesn't fire. I unplugged the tacho again but it still won't start. The tacho has one wire for +, one - and one earth. |

What kind of tacho did you use? And how many wires has it got going to it? |

Sounds to me like a short circuit in your new tacho connection + you flooding the carb and the plugs while turning it over - the short circuit prevents ignition while the tacho is connected, then when you return everything back to narmal the plugs are wet and still wont fire. After awhile they dry out a bit and so "nagicaly" you've got unexplainable ignition. Thats just what I'd think - find the short . |
