The indicator lights in the dash of my Leyland mini clubman have stopped working. The other dash lights work Ok so I know the fuse is OK. I have pulled out and changed the globes and they still don't work. I didn't pull the whole unit out as I didn't want to disconnect the speedo cable but I am thinking it may be a problem with the little contact tabs that the bulb holder make contact with. Has anyone had this problem and if they are broken is there a way to fix them.

If they are broken, a new pcb is the most reliable fix. `convertible mini' sells them. But it's unusual for both lamps to go at the same time, it may be a wiring problem. I'd check that first.

The back lights for the display which come on when you turn the headlights on work fine and the display has a single fuse for the whole cluster so it's deff not the fuse. They were working and one stopped which made me think globe. Then after me pulling the globe holders out to swap them over and check now both don't work, even with new globes!!! I was thinking that the little contact tabs that fold down into the whole where the globe holders insert may have been folded back or broken. I couldn't see the back of the dash cluster and was working mostly from feel today as I didn't want to disconnect the speedo cable to pull it right out. Looks like I will need to pull it out for a proper look.

Are you sure your actual Indicator arm is making proper contact, when indicator turned on?

Was working fine until I pulled the globes put, you can hear the relay and the actual indicators outside work fine so I think the contact is Ok. It is just the dash lights that don't work!

It's not a major drama but as my indicators don't self cancel it was my only way of remembering to turn them off !!! Lol

I have pulled out the cluster and as you can see from the pics it has a few band aids the problem seems to be that the copper contact for the globe has worn through / split. Tested access the gap with a multi meter and voltage is all good it just isn't getting to the globe. What do you think repair or replace ?

I'd get some copper shim and `carefully' solder it onto the track, then bend it slightly into the hole, to match the good one. Once happy, put some super strength araldite epoxy over the repair area to reinforce it.

Then do it again in a few weeks. You can not solder successfully on these type old Flex PCs. It is not worth the trouble repairing these when you can get new ones that are made from more modern materials. Up to the owner after all.

I agree with convertible mini, I tryed to resolder some broken tracks, but its impossible to do it without burning the rest of the board, then reassembling I managed to make a few more cracks on some tracks. The old board was just too brittle!

A new board works so much better, a few plastic rivets and a couple of screws and its done, no faffing about with the soldering iron!

New flexible circuit board arrived, really easy job to replace and works a treat. Much easier to replace than stuffing about trying to solder or bridge contacts with additional wires which was how it had been done before. Looks nice too not that I can see it now its in the car !!!!

Thanks to Tony aka Convertible mini for supplying quickly.
