I've been running the Minispares floating one for around 5 or 6 years on the road. No problems.

Machine the old front bush out (don't use a dremel),
polish the bore with 220 or so wet & dry paper,
the bush should slide in and out without forcing.

Bush is often/usually a little too long. It must not stick out, or it will foul the bronze thrust washer. Safer to sand it shorter than grab it in a lathe (which will make it out of round, unless you put some 1.625" bar inside it).

re the top hat (rear) bush, measure the clearance on the crankshaft. It was about .003" when new. A couple more thou clearance is fine- most wear happens on the front bush.

Just had the motor apart and the only bad wear is the primary gear bush. Looking round on the interweb I see this advertised. Gets recommended by Keith Calver (MiniSpares version). http://www.minimania.com/part/C-AEA3240 ... l-Floating Has anyone used it? Shall be replacing the top hat one at the other end too of course. Is it just a case of fitting / forgetting both (until the top hat one wears again) No machining required?
