I'm trying to decide on what to do here......

I think I'm a bit over my Sparco Sprint race seats and harnesses. They are not comfortable and very hot, and the harnesses are a pain in the ass. I think I'm growing up and getting old.....

What should I do.... Hunt down some original low back seats, get them recovered, hunt down some original lap sash style seat belts? The car is far from original so aftermarket stuff is ok.

Or should I consider a cobra style low back seat and intertidal reel seat belt? Will I have fitment issues with this type of seat belt? I've already got Cobra seat frames modified to suit the Sparcos.

Buying old seats and getting them re-trimmed versus just buying new seats.....?

I've got Cobra Classic lowbacks, they look good but have NO padding at all in the back. And if you lean forward a bit the frame gets you across the tailbone.
These seats came out of a Japanese Rover, I don't know if all Cobras were made like this.
If it wasn't just a club car doing hardly any miles, I would fit something more comfortable.
I'm going to see if I can slip some thin foam into them without major surgery.

I'm lead to believe that late model Rover seats are very comfy .

I have Cobra Clubman's in my car , ( standard lap/sash belts & sheepskin inserts) they are great for long distance runs , but they are a pain for getting access to the rear seat . I find the only problem with standard low backs is , if you drive a bit spirited you tend to fall out of the bloody things .

I just took my ass hugging buckets out and fitted low backs.

Feels so much different to drive normally. Much more comfortable but yeah any spirited cornering and im sure you will slide out of them..

I have sat in the Drift seats at autobarn and thought they were quite comfortable. The ones with the flatter base would probably be more suitable. The backrest declines, plus they fold forward for rear seat access. Last time I saw them they were about $250 each.

2006 Cooper S seats will also fit.

I went for a run in Laingy's 1377 stroker Clubby van yesterday, it now has SAAS reclinable/fold forward buckets in it from Supercrap. Very comfortable and were cheap, (when bought) too.
Only thing I don't like is the headrests. They are way too far from the head, and also they would stop me leaning round to open the A/C window. :(

I have lambs wool seat covers, they actually keep you cooler on hot days and warm on cold days. Plus being a kiwi I love the feel of them...

Cobra, Corbeau, and others sell lots of other seats beyond the cheapo "racing" fixed bucket type. Or maybe something from Recaro??

Or perhaps something lifted from a more modern vehicle at the wreckers??

Unless you're an originality nut its pretty hard not to find something more comfortable than an original mini seat..

Cheers, Ian

I actually quite like the stock seats, and for a few reasons.

Number one is that if you have child bearing hips like me, the normal posterior-hugging racing seats are quite uncomfortable - they're too narrow.

Number two is I can hold on with the steering wheel to support me. Watching my passenger slide back and forth with nothing to grab onto is half the reason I drive a mini!

Theres a big difference between real genuine lambs wool seat covers and synthetic wool. If you like a hot butt get the synthetic, if you prefer a soft comfy butt pay the extra and get real wool.

Im considering changing my velo milano race seat/harness and going back to low backs with the new style retractable seatbelts, i think it is an age thing! My roundnose van has tombstone style seats which are really comfy, probably more comfy then my the stock rover seats.
