Hi,
Has anyone had any experience fitting a pre manufactured exhaust system kit?
Do they generally fit well or am I better of taking my mini to an exhaust specialist & having one custom made and fit?
Thanks
Dave

I've fitted 2 exhaust systems to both of my cars.
First car was a single box RC40 with new maniflow 3-1 extractors. All fitted together and bolted up very well. I am very happy with this setup and would recommend it.
Second car I fitted a twin box RC40 to a set of LCB extractors I already had. Not so easy job trying to get the old extractors to mate up to the new exhaust. I ended up having to get and weld up an exhaust flange gasket to make the join work. Not a fun job welding up the flange gasket to the extractors on the car.

Just out of interest did you prefer the single or twin box?

Single box on the 998. Twin box on the 1275. Prefer the single box any day.

Only trouble I've ever had is fitting local garage bent pipes...those ones often don't quite fit...

Thanks everyone for the info. James how noisy is the system you fitted? I want a nice note but not too noisy in the cabin. I would be fitting it to a 1098.

We fitted a Maniflow med bore LCB an an RC40 twin box to Laingy's 1377 van.
The engine pipe was a Cooper to RC40 one, so we had to cut the swaged end & bend off the front, and the 30deg bend off the back.
Fitted together fine then, but the RC40 tailpipe wasn't long enough to reach the van's longer rear. So I welded a bit of polished S/S pipe to it.

I fitted this one to my 998. It was about $420 delivered a couple of months ago (although the exchange rate has changed since then). The twin box exhaust is a bit quiet in my opinion. It fitted great, except that the pipe was arcing onto the floor starter button! Just needed a little massaging to get it right.

I have a standard RC40 exhaust and LCB extractors on my clubby. The exhaust is great, but I wouldn't recommend LCBs for a small bore (at least, not the ones I have). The y-piece is the lowest point of the body, and it bangs on everything.

The 1275 blocks are taller, so the LCB's tend to fit better on them

I wouldn't say it's overly loud at all in the cabin. Under acceleration it has a nice subtle rasp out the back. Maniflow make great quality products
