Has anyone used the BMC Green Engine Paint listed on the Minisport Online Catalogue, is it a good match for the Mark 1 Cooper S paint or where else can you buy Mark 1 S paint - Metallic Green? |

John Smidt at minikingdomonline has Cooper S metallic green paint in 500mL tins. I've used it for years and it looks correct for a Mk2S motor is a Mk1 any different? I had a Mk1 S (1968) years ago and I think it was the same... |

I worked that out the hard way too, and I think spraying makes the metallic component a little more consistent esp on a smooth flat area like the rocker cover. Maybe it depends on how good your brush technique is. |

If you are thinking or the dark green mki engine colour I can give you the colour code for PPG 2K paint.  I have used this paint for my engine and it's very durable and provides and excellent finish straight off the gun. The only limitation is that it needs to be sprayed with a spray gun, not brushed or aerosol spray. If you want to do a quality job it's worth doing. Tim |

Wow! That's a great job and an excellent representation of the early imported Mk1 engine colour. A lot of time has gone into that. Must be a legend of a painter! |

Being an enamel i use enamel thinners successfully. Both JSs & Minisport colours are a shade lighter than original IMO. I painted one of mine 1/1/15. I hope that is useful.
