Hi all

Just curious as to if anyone has a body numbers registry type thing to ID approx. times of build?

My car has no body plate or numbers on my shroud. Also just to make it more difficult all the parts with dates have been changed at some point..

All I have is a body number, #26786. Has anyone have any idea what year it was definitely made? Even better more specifically a month.

Thanks in advance,
James

If that number is stamped on the firewall behind the brake master cylinders that is known as the "Car No." Normally repeated on an ID plate just above it if the car is Mk1. This is the correct number for rego etc.

The body number would have been stamped on the radiator shroud. The body number was really only used by the factory until the car was assembled and issued a Car No. and matching ID plate.

Theres a few people on here who keep details of dates etc. so I'm sure you'll be able to narrow it down.

Oops, thanks Phill - my CAR number is then #26786. It's on the firewall near the master cylinder as you said - the only number I've ever been able to find on the car

If the number quoted is your build number ie YMA2S2 26786 this would make your car June 67

You might find this thread of interest - I had a similar question a while ago, although John does seem to have answered your question in short order!
