Round nose mini, firewall body number 3047, no idea of year. anyone?
I have replaced all hard lines, hoses, wheel cylinders, fitted a disc brake kit etc. Rebuilt rear subframe and suspension, new bearings, knuckles, made up urethane suspension rubbers etc. you get the picture.
Not totally happy with the bleeding (suspect there is air in the brake pressure limit valve - but haven't thought of a way of getting the air out yet, any ideas?), but pedal doesn't go all the way to the floor and car now stops 300% better.
Now my questions are:
- Is there any retaining spring for the rear shoes (like the front drum brakes have that little hooky spring thingy that clips into the wheel cylinder piston)? - there is an occasional high pitch noise and associated burning smell. I am wondering if I have left something out, and the only thing I can think of is the rear brake shoe falling sideways and rubbing on the drum.
- Are the rear shoes different widths to the front? I have pulled apart 4 front and 3 rear subframe/suspension units to find enough non stuffed bits and have noticed I have different widths brake shoes (no idea what came from where).
- the rear wheels stick out further than the flares, it currently has the spacer drums fitted, am planning to try non spacer drums, but worried tyres may rub on shocks. Tyres are 165/70R10, rims are minilite look alikes, not sure on offset. Are front and rear drums the same? If not how do I tell which is which?
-The disc brakes have moved the front track out a lot, so much that the front wheels are now out past the flares as well. How can I fix this? New rims? If so what offset do I need? Front previously had non spacer drums.
