Hi all, Just wondering if anyone with a tiptop pre-verto clutch system could do me a solid and measure the total travel in the slave cylinder when the clutch pedal is pushed (so, how far the end of the pushrod moves)? Thanks! |

The full throw of a new/good clutch slave cylinder pushrod is 19-21mm (on '69-'70 clutch). Check that when you are measuring that travel, there is a clearance between the head of the adjustment stop screw and the clutch lever. Hope that's clear... Bill |

We used to, and I still do, throw the slave cylinder return spring away. It then makes clutch 'self adjusting', been doing that for about 40 years, never had a problem. |

Sorry to hijack the original question although it seems to have been answered. So, without the return spring, what effect does that have on the feel of the clutch pedal? I broke a spring once and the pedal felt very soft. Should that be the effect? Bill |

IMHO...no. Having got rid of the spring I can't say I've noticed a difference.. Cheers, Ian |

Without the spring the release bearing will contact or spin with flywheel all the time. Other than that it shouldnt feel any different |
