Hi all I am after recommendations on a good white to use on the roof of my mini. Preferably a 1968 colour? I remember someone made some recommendations in another thread but I can't find it sorry. The blue I am using is Sapphire Blue, similar to this, ![]() I picked up my reupholster seats and door cards today and it is a charcoal colour and a slightly creamy white - see pick below ![]() The bodywork is now done and it's off to paint so I would like to know what slightly off white / slightly creamy white you would recommend and preferably a 1968 colour. Not totally cream but with a creamy shade rather than a stark white. Thanks ![]() |

Found this reply that TweedGrey posted in another thread re my interior: "Snow white will certainly be complimentary against the blue. Consider Old English White (done right) as that will look terrific too. It's a great off-white cream colour that would also be sure to fit in with the cream of the seats." |

Have you looked at the 1968 colours (and other years) on the paint cards to get a short list of possible whites? viewtopic.php?f=25&t=66469 |

Thanks winabbey, I find that for white in particular the paint charts can be ambiguous . If you look at just the background white of the charts against each other some seem pink, green, blue and cream depending. So the colour correction I think has a bigger impact on the whites than the colour itself. More so than a blue for example. The starting point of Old English White and Snow White are a good start. If anyone knows these colours I'm happy to hear there opinions. ![]() |

Morbo28 wrote: Thanks winabbey, I find that for white in particular the paint charts can be ambiguous. I agree. When looking at scanned versions of the paint chart which are then displayed on a screen/monitor the actual colour can be quite different. In real life the charts show closer to the exact colour. I suggested looking at the charts because you said you were after a white colour from a specific time period. That would enable you to compile a short list of possibilities, like OEW and Snow White, so you can ask others to post pictures of cars in those colours. P.S. If you update your profile with your geographic location you may get offers to view an actual car located nearby. |

Snow white is a slightly creamy white. It is the Australian 1968 white. I like it. |

I have painted two vehicles in 'Old English White'. Both were in 2Pac, one of the codes "WT03 1955 - 1968" has two tinters of yellow which make it a very creamy colour. The other one was code "54A11 1954" which is a great OEW and has a yellow/red tinter and a black tinter which makes a not as yellow and a little darker. I used 54A11 on the '67 Monte replica along with the first version of Tartan Red (No:1) and like it a lot. Both colours I used were in the BASLAC (BASF/RM family) available here in Australia in both BCC (base clear coat) or topcoat. |

Thanks everyone for the replies - they are all super helpful. I will take these paints and codes and get some samples made up from PPG. Morris 1100 that does sound like a ringing endorsement. Monte I do like that, I'll see if the 60s colours are similar. I'm thinking definitely the OEW and the Snow White and I might even check out that 54 OEW you speak of miniDave. Oh and miniDave those codes you speak of...are they universal? I think PPG bought all of Dulux/Dulon, so would they have those codes do you think? Or did you use someone else? Edit: sorry I see what you mean about the BASF thing I think. I'll look into that. I'll get these samples and post them up for interest sake. Cheers! |

Refers to a viral photo of a dress doing the rounds online that looks white to some people and blue to others. |
