Hey has anyone used NAT RAD brand radiators?? I've been having over heating issues and pulled the rad out and took it for a clean... They have done a flow test on it and it's blocked but once they pulled the tanks off and had a good look the cores are on there last legs and should be replaced.... Been quoted $220 for brand new complete unit.... |

So I've spoken to link automotive he says the standard rad is not enough cooling capacity for a melbourne summer. And he has Chinese alloy rads that are much highier capacity for $120 rang nat nad back and he said nahhh these nat rad ones Will be fine and have more capacity than the orginal rads that were in them....... Don't know who to trust and who just wants the sale... |

have alloy from link no problems so far grand son has one also no problems several others I know also have them no complaints also they do hold more coolant

Don't know who to trust and who just wants the sale... A good condition standard radiator is fine unless you've done something pretty serious to your engine. They were tested for Australian conditions. So long as the rest of your cooling system is in good nick, I would think that any radiator should work fine. I would lean towards an Australian radiator over a UK one though - they don't know what 'hot' means. I've heard good things about the Chinese alloy radiators, but again I'd put my trust in an Australian made radatior any day. |

The aluminium radiators seem to be quite good value for the price , but the copper/brass radiators are far superior for heat transfer ,but of course more expensive. Natrad use mostly Natra brand cores(made in Australia)If you go for the Natrad one make sure you get a core with at least 16 fins/inch ,these were fitted as standard to most Aussie minis . If you wanted to pay a bit extra you can get a heavy duty one made up with the Moke Californian core ,these are a very good radiator with 4 rows of tubes.(or find yourself a moke californian one) |

I think it's fine to trust both parties. Take some retail insurance and ask them to spec the coolant and recognise a new water pump is in. Come summer you will have either no over heating issues or a paid replacement from the expert you choose. |

The Aussie 3 core is plenty fine. They worked then and work now. Having said that though my moke runs hotter than it should. Even with the radiator from my GT (which I can hammer on a 40degree day and wont go much above half) if you want an alloy one you used to be able to get them from ebay for about $90. |

One thing to consider is the alui one is a lot harder to repair if it springs a leak. they both have there limitations if its price then go Alui, if its not copper would be my choice. |

And on a side note, while you're at it you should replace your water pump if you've been having cooling issues. It's really easy with the radiator out. Getting the radiator out is the hard bit. |

I would go an alloy one. In fact I just did. If you're worried about needing to repair it, buy two. You a will still be ahead! |
