...Only if you have changed gearboxs to the normal remote or rod change style. Would be kind of tough changing gears through steel... Maybe if you hit the chassis REALLY HARD, it will bump into gear... ![]() |

IF you want to go original, you will keep the front one. That is the hole for what would have been the original magic wand gear change. I am guessing the motor you took out either has a remote or rod change box. If you want to use that, patch the front hole. If you do, make a nice neat patch and rivit it on with some silastic or similar. If you weld it up, you will have a much harder time to go back if you happen to want to later in the van life. Just a thought, up to you what you do of course. Cheers Aaron |

Ahh thats what i thought.. It didnt have an engine or gearbox in it when i got it, with the motor i am or will be puting a 1275 turbo in it, but thats a long way off.. And with a motor like that i would use a rod change box? |

Remote change box would be preferable, but you could use a rod change. Cheers Aaron |

No only a magic wand uses that hole. I don't think it would be wise to use a magic wand box with a 1275 turbo... Cheers Aaron |

Cheers Aaron OTOH you could build a remote 4 synchro box and bung a magic wand diff housing & shifter on it. Sleeper....... ![]() Hey it's located just as well as a rod change one is, ie = it's NOT.. ![]() |
