What type of front seat belts have people got fitted to their early round nose model cars?

Lap sash or retractable?

What is available new these days? Who is a reputable supplier?

Is there a retractable belt that fits without mods?

Feel free to post pics!

Thanks

The problem with a Mini K/MiniMatic/Mk2S shell like yours is the reel fouls on the door bin.
I just drilled another hole in the reel's mount and cut the excess off.
Belts are Klippan K1512, stalks on tunnel are 300mm ones. Have been in the car since 2001, still work good.

Here's a fitted pic-

I use these guys, they are the best in Australia. They can either redo you original ones ( I have had several sets done where they rewebb and rechrome all the parts) or build you custom brand new stuff.

Cool. I just sent that lot an email.

Doc when you say you drilled another hole in the mount, can you please elaborate on that? Does that move the reel further down? So it dosnt foul the door pocket?

Yes the bracket attached to the reel is below it. You drill another bolt hole in it closer to the reel, this lowers the reel on the body. I then cut the excess off but could probably have left it.

Gee that's a nice interior. What model car is that?

Do you have any issues with the standard seat fouling on the reel in its rear most position?

I didn't have any problems with mine (below) so either the reels bracket has been redesigned or the lower mount point is different in a mk2 /K shell.

Note the need to angle the other bracket forward. this is correct anyway this is the section that goes around your hip so it needs to point this direction anyway.

The only small issue I had was sometimes when the door slammed closed the pocket would push on the belt make it lock, so you then had to jiggle and lift it to unlock it, but this issue seemed to be just in the first 6 months when the belt was new.

The car is a 64 850. It doesnt foul on the seats at all.
Although as phillb says. the door bin does slighly push on the strap going up when you close the door.

The minisport ones from the picture look like klippan. Could very well be different though.

The last time i saw some klippan belts to suit a mini, i'm pretty sure they were $100, but that was a few years ago and the price has surely gone up a bit since then. This was from an autobahn store. So i think minisports price is pretty good.

I have literally just bought a pair of these from MiniSport (Sorry I haven't fitted them yet to know clearance) but they're not Klippan. The brand is APVS Safety Products.

Sorry can't find the boxes so not too sure of the part number. I'll keep looking. I can confirm though that put the minisport ones in the car yesterday in my 67 deluxe and it was a direct fit in - If you're going to use those belts use the original bolts from your other seat belts, the ones supplied fit but are a little bit too long for the floor bolts. They are awesome!
