Anyone had this before? The car starts fine idle is OK. When I have driven about a Kilometer it starts to starve and cuts out. When I stop I can hear the fuel pump filling the line again and off I go.
I will change the fuel filter tomorrow as it is a newly restored tank could have grit in it.
The fuel pump is new Ecco fuel pump.

If air can't get in, fuel can't get out.
Poke a 1/16" drill into the breather pipe on top of tank. If you have lined or rust converted the tank insides, it could have blocked like mine did.

I will check if its clear

Also check the strainer in the tank isn't clogged. If it is, you can stick a drill up it, as you have a line filter anyway.

well i checked the breather it is clear.
ran the car with fuel cap off with a new filter still no good.
ran with no filter still no good.
so it is either the pump or as you said doc the strainer.

sounds like the pump to me

Just went through a similar problem on my van after getting it on the road last month. It would run ok puttering around but as soon as you gave it some it would just run out of fuel. Float bowl dry. Mechanical fuel pump in my case.

What I found was two blockages - one in the pickup pipe in the tank (screen was fine), one at the last bend in the fuel pipe as it entered the engine bay.

In both cases it was some sort of really hard deposit, I had to literally chip it off with a bit of really stiff wire. Some people have used a cut-down old speedo cable inner to do the same. Once that was gone, it's been going like a rocket

I was thinking the fuel line. its a new pump so i hope its not that.

I had an issue on my van where the pickup pipe cracked indide the tank. Would run fine putting around but conk out if given s bit.

It was blocked. i drilled it out.
the feed tube travel along the base inside the tank.The drill broke through the top of the feed tube inside.
it fixed the fuel problem but will this now cause an issues?
will i need to cut out and replace tube?

No it will work fine.
You should have a BIG filter (as it's a suction line) between tank and pump if no tank strainer.
A Commodore or Falcon steel body one is good for under the car.
