That is not correct.
They should look like this (this is a repro)

Image

You can buy a reproduction, but they are different to the originals. The oriinals inner raised ring was much more pronounced than the reproductions. The Originals also had a disc with the Leyland logo painted on it stuck in the middle. The reproductions, this isn't really possible because the disc wont sit below the outer ring. Yrs ago I did a post on the clubman GT forum (which isn't around anymore) about the differences.

This is the wayback machine backup of the old forum. You may find a lot of this an interesting read: https://web.archive.org/web/20091004192 ... ty/YaBB.pl

Here is the link explaining the differences, I found it.

If you do a search for AHA8950 some repros should pop up.

Bubba

Try the MG places. They were used on MG Midgets.

wow Bubba.... thanks for posting that link! Really miss the GT Spot but good to know that the info is still there!

BTW - does anyone here sell the repro decals for the centre caps?

Cheers,

Hey not a problem. So do I....

Originally they were a blue leyland symbol printed/painted onto a slightly domed aluminium disc. This was then glued into the centre of the cap.

I dont know of anyone printing leyland stickers that could be used for the repros as discs wont work as per original.

I'm pretty sure I bought a set of the blue printed decals off chopchop AGES ago but now can't find them :x

I have a full set of original caps and am now in the process of restoring a set of rims.... (sorry for the hijack) - does anyone know where to get a full set of original wheel nuts from?? I know these http://minisport.com.au/mini-gt-tapered-wheel-nutsa-suit-original-gt-rims-set-of-4 are available from minisport but are they any good?

Wow they are expensive. I would be going to somerford minispares before I paid that sort of money.

The early english GT'S had same wheels and nuts. A few yrs ago i bought a single nut from somerford to check against original but never got around to checking :(

Anton and GTMowog and maybe others will tell you they are supposed to have adomed head too.

They are NOT!
I have seen NOS nuts with correct part number on bag
Bulletin from Leyand stating specific nuts

Both had the flat end (look like the above), All my 3 GT's had the above nuts also (maybe not a full set though but most of a set)

Sorry to hijack above thread :)

it could be just me but the nuts in this pic look domed to me.... not trying to open up a fresh can of worms here ... just saying. save the pic and zoom in and tell me what you think. It's by no means definative but they "look" to be domed. or maybe doomed??

I think the only thing for certain here is nothing is certain.... a common theme with B(L)MC

If nothing else it makes for interesting discussion.
