Post subject:  Rear subframe bushes

I purchased a rear subframe poly bush kit from minisport and received four bushes with internal ribs in the hole and four without ribs just a plane hole. Does anyone know which goes where ? Thanks

Hmm I didn't notice any difference in the eight poly rear subframe bushes, I thought they were all the same from memory? I may be mistaken but as far as my experience goes, they should all be the same.

The only pic of poly bushes I could find

Ha - well bugger me. Maybe someone else knows? Otherwise Tony/John/Andrew at Minisport would be able to let you know what the go is. I actually just got off the phone to them. If I'd had this in mind I could have asked.

Maybe post up any new info when you get it.

I've not seen them ribbed before, I was hoping someone else has. As far as I know they're all meant to be the same.

They're not greased so its not a channel for grease to pass through, and I don't see the point of having stiff and brittle urethane bushes, only to have move around under load on the ribs. I honestly don't know where they're from.

What did Minisport say?

I've had a look and Minisport UK sells these ribbed. There's no description why, maybe to stop them sticking to the mount, maybe to allow some wiggle.

This is from the latest MiniWorld regarding installing a front sub frame.

Maybe the people supplying them might know. Nolathane or the likes.
Usually the ribs are for the greased type. These aren't the same bushes used in early model front lower control arms? They're bigger aren't they?
Is it an optical illusion, or are they different sizes?

Mini spares sell the ribbed ones specially for the UK market, it's for the rust to grow into. :-) :-) :-)

If you want em to last like originals did, I'd fit rubber instead. I find polyurethane doesn't last well in most applications.

+1 on that, they've lasted this long.

Great in theory, however new rubber is NOWHERE near the quality of that of 40+ years ago.
