In the market for a new timing light. The 'Trisco' timing lights seem to pop up everywhere. Has anyone had any experience with them? |

Make sure it has a `dialback advance' function. I've got an Innova 3568. Had no problems in 5 years. http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/i ... /overview/ Convertible Mini (Tony) sells dialback lights too. |

What does the dial back advance do? |

Allows you to only need a TDC mark, no advance marks required. Read the link I provided. It uses magic to move the flash electronically to what you have set, so you only need the one mark. |

So you dial in the desired degree of advance and adjust dizzy until it flashes on the TDC mark? |

Yes that's it. Too easy. You can use it with it's inbuilt tacho to create an advance map of what advance you have. |

Yeah just check that part number on ebay, watch the postage too- some are dearer than others. |

Sounds pretty cool. So you can do total advance no worries etc? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TIMING-LIGHT ... 3f4c2878e6 |

That's the one I found, too, Hanra. I was expecting to pay $50+ for a rubbish one, so that's pretty good. |

You could pay mega$ for a Snap-On, but for our use I find this one works well. I mapped the curve of my PulsarMini dizzy, then punched those numbers into the Black Box I'm running now instead. |

Damn you all! You put the link right there and I had to go and press it. This happened last week with the switch extensions, and the week before when someone else put a 3D printer link in front of me....anyway, time to put my crappy one to bed, this one is so flash its got an LCD screen! Just for conversation, I locked my dizzy, set the timing to zero and was setting the Accuspark Blackbox to set advances and checking the calibration at 0, 5 and 10 , then 20 and 30 degrees, all nice and spot on. Its nice not to worry about the validity of 20, 30 and 40 year old springs, bushes and pins hoping they all collude together enough to be accurate. Electronics and MOSFETS are a wonderful thing. |
