Many years ago I had to relocate the gearbox mounting tab on a set of extractors because they seemed to be made for a small bore and I was fitting them to a 1275 - A 1275 is around 3/8" or 10mm taller. I can't remember if they were a Maniflow or Longman copy... Unless you have significantly changed the length of the top engine steady it shouldn't have changed the angle of the y piece by an appreciable amount. By my rough calculations it would be about 1.5 - 2 degrees per 10mm change. |

Use the adjustable top steady I made you. There are too many variables, the stock upper bracket mounts are flimsy. |

Not unusual for LCB tails not to align correctly. In fact I would suggest it would be unuusal if you find one that did. I use a stout shovel handle up the Y piece as a lever to adjust the bend in tubes to fit.... You will only have to move it a few mms (IME:) It is easier if you can get the car up on a hoist ... but not absolutely necessary. Cheers, Ian |

On the way to being sorted, used the standard upper engine steady & the adjustable one Doc made on the radiator side. I have sufficent clearance for the weber & will massage the LCB's to fit as 1071 S suggests, cheers for the feedback |
