Hi guys the heater in my 69 Cooper S, very early one is the original metal heater which I have just finished restoring, crinkle finish front & all & that is another story as I could not get the paint to crinkle until I got a heat gun on to the fresh paint then worked a treat. Can anybody tell me how you get the original letters in the white paint back on the front of the heater ie OFF, Demist, ect.
Cheers

I think you will need a screen printer?

Letraset?

And didn't Minisport SA do an exchange service on these front heater panels once? Paint + printing?

If the letters are raised up from the surface of the console you could try putting a little bit of white paint on a small cardboard tube and the gently rolling it across the letters.

There is a thread here: from the "board index" there is a "How To" and "How Flute restored his MkI Cooper S (metal type) heater" has the details.
The Letraset sheets work well although they are no longer made and you have to find old stock. I bought mine from an art supplier in Ryde (?)NSW.

Yes, had mine done by minisport SA, sent the panel over, I think his wife does it. Still perfect a couple of years later. Seems a bit more substantial than Letraset to me, it is on top of the crackle finish (which they did too) and seems more like paint.
