Post subject:  My mini, moving on.
Well, two weeks later and all focus is on rebuilding my car.

It will most likely be reshelled, and the remaining shell will become a long term
restoration for me to complete when I ever get around to it.
Can't afford the mega bucks repair bill on it, so I'll attempt the repair myself.
May take a panel beating course at tafe or something. Not sure yet.

Anyway, will be trying to get the engine out asap, then get the subframes out and stripped. Have organised for them to be repainted at work. Hopefully the industrial size sandblaster won't rip the crap out of it if it's used.

Still trying to work out how to get the subframes out, whether I have to make some sort of box frame thing or if milk crates will do, suggestions?

Painting may or may not be organised, and are getting pretty close to another shell.
I'm aiming to have the car back on the road in 4-6 months, but it will be a big job to do so.

i dont think there will be a problem at all.

the only problems you will come across are the 'decisions-decisions' ones, like colour, style, taste, which come to think about, aren't problems at all.
they are the harmless occupations of the mind that we love to have, just like how women wonder whether the stilletos would go better with their black short cut dress, or the red one

I'm pretty lazy with a camera, but I'll see what I can do.

Anyone got any drawings for a boxframe or similar to sit the car on whilst I work on it?
Sort of like SC850's or JAMs.
Either that, can i put the car on some large car stands only touching the shell so I can remove subframes without damaging the bottom of the car (any more)?

hey Harley, if you want a really easy trolley for your shell.....scrounge a wood pallet and screw some big castor wheels onto the bottom of it. You can get them from Bunnings.

Easy! and I have seen them work well!

I am just using 4 jack stands. I use ones rated to 6 tons for the large foot print for stability and they raise to 650mm. You can get them brand new on eBay for around $50-60 per set of 2.

I can give you the details of the guy I go mine from if you like. He is in Sydney or Melbourne from memory.
