Hi all,
I am currently rebuilding my rod change box. New bearings and the main shaft overhauled by a well known mini expert. It's all back together but for some reason, once I fitted the laygear it won't turn.
I have put gears in neutral but it only turns 3 or so teeth then locks. It is all very clean and I can't see what's causing the problem. Here are some pics. Please help. Cheers, Richard.

This.
If it's been put in 1st & 4th gears to lock it, both synchro cones are probably still stuck on their tapers. Even though it's now in neutral.

All good now, must have been the syncros. Thanks guys.

is it just me, or are the dogs on that 1st motion shaft absolutely rooted?

The accuracy of the grinding of the dogs was never the best so they're always a little uneven. The pic quality is too low for me to pick anything wrong.

Here's a closer pic, not new at all but still look serviceable to me.

Does anybody have a picture of how the selector shaft lines up with the plates that move the forks. I can't work out how it fits. I'm learning lot's :)

That one's a remote though.

The rod change is similar though. The three swivel plate pieces should each have a slot for the selector rod and all 3 slots should line up when all the gears are unselected. Then by carefully moving and turning the selector rod and it's interlock sleeve you should be able to rotate them into the swivel plate slots. Best done before the diff cover goes on.

Yep I'm sure I've been going the right way but I just can't get the sleve to rotate all the way... I'll keep at it. Cheers. Richard.
