Hi all,
New member , I have got a what I think is a 68 mini deluxe, been off the road since '93. I was playing today and managed to turn over the engine by spanner and noticed that the first valve nearest the radiator is stuck. Also all the juices etc clutch, brake and radiator fliuds are dry, but thats another matter. At least it turns and is not siezed.
My question is not about the motor but about the body number and what actual date the car may be, No is 33591.
Anyone able to help ?

It would have been made around the middle of 1968.

the records of actual build details were destroyed, so what M1100 said is as close as you can get

Your car would have been built around April/May 1968 and should have an engine number around 9Ya/Ta/H 34500 to 34700

I very accurate data a to build dates up to mid 1967 but past that date it becomes a bit sketchy till the end of Deluxe production in March 1969 with car YMA2S2 37989. Vehicle build numbers and engine numbers do not correlate.

Hope this helps.

I have details out of of a couple of 68 handbooks, 32864 was sold in May and 33508 was sold in October.
The engine numbers seem to be about 1200 higher than the car number at this time.

I have a theory about the higher engine numbers in that era, I think the 998s fitted to Mokes and 850 Vans may be the reason for the higher numbers in the Deluxes.

33015 with 9Ya/Ta/H 34238 I regard as an May 68 car, on account of the wiper motor having a 4/68 date stamp and the speedo dated 29 April 68. So it was either completed on the very last days of April (very unlikely) or early on in May.

Thanks Guys,

Sounds about right as the engine number is 9YA/Ta/H34954, which puts it in the same time as you have quoted.
