I finally got around to checking my valve clearances and found a range between 18 and 27 thou. Anyway I was hoping that the rockers would have some identification on them - but no. I think they are 1.5's.
Are the purple roller tip rockers colour coded to identify there ratio? The mini websites are selling purples as high lift 1.5's.

I think they are 1.5s.
Do not set clearance to less than .019", and check the gap between spring coils @ full lift.

I got purple ones from Minispares, they are 1.5. As doc said, watch your spring crush.

I took a gamble they were 1.5's and set them to 19thou. I forgot to measure the spring crush but in the photos I took there looks to be a decent gap. Not happy it only has single springs. Will be buying C-AEA526 on my next order I place.
What is the easiest way of measuring cam lift? DTI on the valve spring cap then divide by 1.5
I have no idea what cam the PO put in.

Put the DTI direct on the pushrod is the most accurate method.
The rockers are nominally 1.5:1 but vary depending on mounting height, how well are made, etc.

They are def MS 1.5's. They are great rockers.
If you are measuring the cam to determine max lift before coil bind then you are best to measure at the retainer. If you are measuring the cam lift to id it you will need to know the designed lash To determine its advertised duration.
If The varying clearances you had were because of wear then you might struggle.
To determine wear, reset to the same lashes across all valves and check all lifts for variation. Naturally the highest lift will be the lobe/lifter with the least wear.
Cheers Ben.

Thanks for the input. I checked the coil bind today and its pretty close. About 20 thou gap at the base, 10 thou on the next coil. Top 3 coils are touching. Will be taking it easy until I put in the new springs. Went to check the lift - found my DTI but have somehow misplaced the magnetic base.

Are single springs such an issue these days if you have the right type?

I am dealing with an engine that was in a hillclimb mini and don't have much info on it. It rattles at the 6500rpm range so for $70 I will treat it to a set of the high lift dual springs.

I run the C-AEA526 springs with an RE282 cam and KD 1.5 forged rockers. Valve lift around .490".
It is good for 8000 rpm (but I have an electronic cutout @ 7500 now). Good springs. 8)
