Hi guys can anybody help me with the changeover date from metal Lockheed master cylinders for brake & clutch to plastic, or close to for a Cooper S. My June 69 S has the original Lockheed brake booster, that I have had restored, this makes me think that I should have tin can master cylinders to maintain originalty. Cheers. |

Hi Kath. During 1969 the Mk2's used up the last of the Mk1 Master Cylinders, Boosters and Heaters. I have seen a few 1969 Mk2's and the earlier ones had both tin type Masters. the later had a plastic clutch and tin brake. There doesn't appear to be any hard and fast rules. Thanks Brad, mine is actually number 80 a very early one. Built around 5th or 6th month 1969, so do you think that it may have had the tin cans? The heater is the original & it is the metal heater. Cheers. |

would definitely say tin types. I have an early mk2 - around car 330 and it has tin tanks mk1 booster, mk1 heater, thin flange block, etc etc Cheers |
