Post subject:  Radius arms

Hey Guys,

In the process of refurbishing my rear radius arms so I can take a break from bodywork, which is depressing at the moment.

I am aware of reaming the bush (no pun intended) But I am wondering about the condition of the casting.

The bore is fine but there is some wear/damage to the faces of the bore. Is this detrimental to handling? Is it common to shim the either side of the radius arm so it is firmly held in the bracket? Or elongating the bracket holes to take up the slack?

Any pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers.

The length of the shaft between its shoulders = [length of radius arm + a few thou].
The washers need to be flat faced, no wear.
Maybe the end washers are worn?
Rather than mess with the washers I would find another arm or two. There are still plenty of s/h ones about, both dry and hydro types.

It isn't really loose, I was just wonering whether there are common service methods. I have a couple of extra hydro arms here at any rate, just my Scottish heritage.

Thanks for the info Doc.
