Anyone got a tip on where to get the triangular quarter window rubber seals (i.e. that run between edge of the door and the chrome quarter window assembly itself)?

Hoping someone bought a pair recently and can tell me who stocks them for sure.

Apparently the company that reproduced them for Minisport SA went belly-up and Mini Kingdow is saying they're NLA on their website too.

Mine are stuffed and need replacement.

My first thought would be to measure it and contact a company that manufactures a range of quarter window rubbers. Who knows they may have another rubber that will fit.

I used the Karcraft ones, they fit & work well.
The catch relies on the rubber's springiness to keep the latch tight when closed.

am thinking of replacing some rubber window seals too

I have a few semi decent spares on a frame (well they are better than the ones on the car now)

what's the best way of removing them without causing too much stress? do they just lever off as there appears to be some rivets/plugs holding them in

and do they come apart into two pieces? an upright and the angled piece?

cheers

There are 2 bits of rubber.
There are rivets that hold the vertical strip in. Drill them out.
Note the new vertical ones have flat washers in, not a metal strip. Not as good, but meh it's all available.
I got mine from Karcraft.

It is not a fun job. The 2nd one will take you less time.
Look also whether the frame is coming away from the glass at the bottom, if this happens it catches the rubber when opening/closing and can pull it out.
Mine stay closed now.

Karcraft should have new ones in stock in the next few weeks
I think it is better to install new rubbers as there is a great risk that second hand ones will be damaged when removed and won't last as long?

leave the 1/4 glass shut for about 6 months to, as it helps bind them in

if you open the window straight after fitting they tend to peel out
leave them shut for ages

... and Mini Kingdom Online. I'm told their new stock is arriving in a week or so and can be ordered on their shop website. :)

Spectrum don't exist any more. They went out of business, as already mentioned.

again, thanks for the many replies and advice - I found the "fitting the 1/4 vent window seals page" - viewtopic.php?t=10443

and loved the first line . . "Many people will tell you that fitting 1/4 vent window seals is one of the worst jobs yo can do on a Mini. THEY ARE RIGHT!!"

he he he

I will contact John Schmidt methinks for a new set of rubber seals for the back windows too and take it from there, with time, and patience and a swear jar :D
