Does anyone know what chassis number relate to what year of production.

Is there some sort of register for Australian minis?

What type of information are you looking for, model, year etc.
I have nearly 5000 vehicle in my data base covering all models from 1961 to 1982

Hi john

I was wondering whether chassis number 2263 belongs to a 1965 mark 1 cooper s?

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tomtax
YKG2S2 2263 would be an early 1967 car.
John may be able to pin point the numbers better than me but I can tell you the cars started at YKG2S2 501 and were first delivered 8/65. Around 300 were delivered in total for 1965.

Funny the compliance plate says 1965?

The engine number is 9FSAY43492

Any further thoughts are great appreciated

The ID plates never had a date. Can you post a photo of the plate? Something a bit fishy with that one.

The engine however matches up with a 2200 car.

Should look like this

According to the Cooper S register 2263 would be a Feb/Mar 1967 delivery car. The engine number would be around 434xx to 435xx, so the number you quoted seems about right.

This should help to determine approx. build dates as distinct from date purchased/registered.
My first S was purchased in July 1966 from Gould's Motors in High St Northcote. Actual build date ?????
Car number YKG2S2 1090.(590th car built) Engine number 9FSAY 39922.
Toga White roof, New BRG??? body. (I'm not 110% sure about the colour of the body - it was nearly 50 years ago)
Green interior with green carpet.
It had rubber inner U/Js and small vertically mounted oil cooler.

From what I can remember the first cars went on the market in May/June 1965. They had to sell a minimum number of cars to qualify for Bathurst in 1965 but I can't remember if it was 500 or 1000 cars.
