Post subject:  850 roof liner

Hi All,
I have and 850 but it does not have the original 2 piece roof liner.
Ideally I'd like to get one.
Are they rare?
Can they be made after market by an upholsterer?
Does anyone have pics of one?

This may soon become a wanted advert

Thanks,
Matt

Newton UK does a kit, I'm not sure if it's the same as the Australian one though

Early 850 late '61 probably.

Thanks for the link. I don't have the frame for the roof liner. I'd love to get some pics or info on the frame.

I'm fairly handy so making one may be an option.

Newton's headlining kit works fine. Oz Mk1 cars (850 and Cooper) use the same 2 piece headlining frames. Kit comes with the B pillar panels made up and the piece that coves the bottom of the rear window opening.

850 frames should be quite easily obtainable. Ask in Wanted section.

Front is pretty much the same ..... I would say exactly but I think the front is slightly wider (at its front edge) than the back is (at the back :)...

Cheers, Ian

There hard to get. New old stock of early 850 headlining 2 piece sell for $1000 alone.

Here is a picture of my early 1961 headlining.

Thanks

Newton's use the UK headlining material for early minis, which is a very light grey (it looks white unless you put something white next to it). It looks fine, but isn't 'correct' for an Australian car.

I'd hate to try to fit a new cover to a frame from another car though. I had enough trouble with the original one in my Traveller with the original material. You'd need the patience of a saint, I reckon.

Thanks for the great pics Curly, Niffty64, Sports850man & Timbo. Could be a good resource for others looking for the same thing.
So I've got it right.
This is the front?

and this is the rear

and the lining is held on with clips at the front and rear?
