I didn't think you were allowed to mess with or sell compliance plates.

The way I interpret ebay's own guidelines, it is prohibited.

"Items that claim to be, or to look similar to, official government identification documents or licenses"

Or even under;

"Any item that is primarily used to alter identification documents, licenses or plates."

It's cause of all these extra cooper s cars that everytime someone finds out you have a
mini, the first question is "Is it a cooper S?"
Doesn't rally bother me, considering there would be less cars badged 850s
than coopers, making mine rare.

Not cool, but not as bad as the illustrious Paul Gulson from Brisbane selling BLANK plates. They have everything on them but the stamped characters.

He sells them on eBay all the time.

These plates seem to come up every 2 or 3 months. You never were permitted to buy compliance plates, so I don't understand why you can buy them now. :shock:
At $280 it seems to have a big market. If your driving it, in your heart you know it's not genuine.

OK, a few points....

1) It is not a compliance plate, it is an identification plate. (there is a big difference)
2) You are not breaking any laws by buying or selling them.
3) You could buy blank ones new (and still can)
4) There are people that collect old plates just like people collect stamps or sparkplugs.

However, it is against the law to fit that plate to another mini. :wink:

True, or the U.S of A. The lawsuit's would put a few exporter's out of business. :wink:
